 | There is good possiblity that bush might be impeached while in office for misleading the American people and talking the country to war, thereby causing death of nearly 3,000 American servicemen. Criminal prosecution might not follow impeachment -- There cannot be both impeachment and criminal prosecution. Polls show that right now Americans favor accountability -- a majority says they're for impeachment because that's the only option they're given. But the impeachment process will not be easy, There need to be political will on part of the opposition democrat party to follow it through and I am not sure if the United States public have the stomach to drag the country through another impeachment after having tried Bill Clinton earlier . | T
If Congress were to impeach, that would be that; the conventional wisdom would be that justice was served, the rule of law re-established and the Bush administration brought to justice and some kind of solace to thousand of Iraqi dead.
Consider who that would let off the hook: Rumsfeld and Feith and Yoo and Cambone and Gonzalez and Ashcroft and Wolfowitz and a half dozen others. Bush and Cheney would be booted out of office a few months earlier with disgrace including the rest of the Bush cabinet. |
